May 13, 2019; Carrie Barckley was born in Wisconsin, United States on August 24, 1887 and died in the same state on January 4, 1999 at the age of 111 years, 133 days.
March 6, 2017; Mary Anna Boone was born in Leitchfield, Kentucky, United States on February 10, 1887 and died in the same place on May 13, 2001 at the age of 114 years, 92 days. She is the oldest person ever from Kentucky.
The fifth of 12 children, she lived in Grayson County most of her life. She married Frank Boone in 1916 and they had seven children. Boone helped to run her husbands farm and was a devoted churchgoer. Her husband died in 1960.

March 5, 2017; Mrs. Grace M. (Taylor) Clawson was a British-American supercentenarian who was born on November 15, 1887 in London, England (UK), and died on May. 28, 2002 at age 114 years, 194 days in Florida (USA). Clawson was the world's oldest person at the time of her death, although she was not recognized as such until the Kamato Hongo case from Japan was later retracted. Long thought to be born in 1889, her relatives discovered the true date-of-birth from an original 1887 birth certificate that they received from England, her birth country.
Born as Grace Taylor, Clawson was born in London, England, but her family moved to Montreal, Quebec, Canada when she was still a toddler. After school, Clawson worked in a hospital until World War I. In 1917, she married Ray Clawson, with whom she had two daughters. In her adult life, Clawson worked as an embroiderer and an office worker. She never smoked or drank alcohol but enjoyed a good cup of coffee. She also enjoyed dancing, singing and telling a good joke. Clawson was widowed in 1950.
In 1982, at the age of 95, Clawson moved to Florida in the United States to live with her younger daughter, Gladys. She remained there for many years before going to live in an Assisted living facility. Amusingly, due to the issue outlined in the first paragraph, Clawson celebrated her 100th birthday in 1989, when she would actually have been 102. Clawson remained mentally sharp until her very last day of her life, enjoying the talks with her family and friends. Survived by both her daughters, Clawson was a great-great-grandmother at the time of her death.

Cock-Clay is 113 years old.
Born as Christina Clay, Cock was born in Gorae, near Portland, Victoria, Australia on December 25, 1887 and died in Blackburn, Melborne, Victoria, Australia on May 22, 2002 at the age of 114 years, 148 days. Cock became the oldest living person in Australia on December 8, 1995, following the death of Ada Cleggett. On November 21, 2000, at the age of 112 years, 331 days, Cock surpassed the final age of Caroline Mockridge and became both the oldest Australian person ever and the oldest person ever from the Southern Hemisphere. At the time of her death, she had been the oldest Australian for more than six years and was the second oldest living person in the world. The Southern Hemisphere longevity record was broken by Maria Capovilla in 2004, but she remains the oldest Australian person ever.
She married Wilbert Cock in 1913, with whom she was to have three children. The couple enjoyed almost 73 years of marriage until his death in 1986. Cock lived independently until the age of 109, when she broke her hip after a fall. After she reached the age of 110, Cock put a sign on her door saying "If I had known I was going to live this long I would have taken better care of myself." By the age of 114, her short-term memory failed her at times, but her long-term memory remained impeccable and she was "quite on the ball". She continued to lead an active life right up until the very day she died. According to her daughter, Lesley Ricketson, "She still had an interest in her music and food, particularly chocolate cake, and all her family; she was very much a family orientated person. She was very healthy, she never got sick, she used to eat well and never had anything wrong with her."
Cock outlived one of her three children and was a great-great grandmother at the time of her death. She said her long life was due to an encounter with a swagman when she caught a train with her husband on their honeymoon. "They got into a carriage where there was this swaggie, and he could see they were newlyweds so he got out at the next stop and said: "I'll leave you to it, and hope you have a long and happy life."
Catharina Van Dam-Groeneveld, 113

February 22, 2016; Mrs. Catharina 'Kaatje' Van Dam-Groeneveld was born in South Holland, Netherlands on November 20, 1887 and died in the same province on February 16, 2001 at the age of 113 years, 88 days. On July 20, 1999, she surpassed the final age of Jan Machiel Reyskens and became the oldest person ever from the Netherlands. She was the first Dutch person to celebrate her 112th and 113th birthdays, thereby extending the Dutch longevity record from 111 to 113 years. Her Dutch longevity record was broken by Hendrikje van Andel-Schipper in 2003, but she remains the oldest person ever from South Holland.
Mrs. Van Dam-Groeneveld was born as Catharina Groeneveld in Leiden on 20 November. She grew in that city in a poor family, but in interviews recalled being happy with what the family had.
In 1911, Mrs. Van Dam-Groeneveld married her husband Jacob van Dam, a gardener, with whom she would have ten children. Later, she would describe her marriage as the most beautiful moment in her life. Mrs. Van Dam-Groeneveld's husband would die in 1958, described by her as one of the saddest moments in her life.
In later life, Mrs. Van Dam-Groeneveld admitting to liking all of the media attention, but also expressing the wish not to live too long. She was taken care of by her son. About three after her 113th birthday, Mrs. Van Dam-Groeneveld died on 16 February 2001 at the age of 113 years and 88 days, the cause of her death reportedly being pneumonia. She was outlived by four surviving children, as well as eighteen grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren and ten great- great-grandchildren.

Maud Farris-Luse was born in Morley, Michigan, United States on January 21, 1887 and died in Coldwater, Michigan, United States on March 18, 2002,
at the age of 115 years, 56 days. On June 25, 2000, she became the oldest person in the United States, following the death of Myrtle Dorsey. On June 6, 2001,
she became the oldest living person in the world, following the death of Marie Bremont. At the time of her death she was the oldest person since Sarah Knauss
and she remains the oldest person ever from Michigan.
Born as Maude Davis, she moved to Steuben County, Indiana in 1891. In 1903, at the age of 16, she married Jason Ferris, a farmer. In 1925, they moved to Coldwater, where Farris-Luse gave birth to the last of their seven children. She worked as a factory clerk, a hotel maid, a baker and a restaurant cook before retiring in her 70s. After her first husband died in 1951, she married Walter Luse. Farris-Luse never smoked or drank, and loved to fish. In her later years, she became well known for making large numbers of pot holders, and also for her extreme generosity.
At the age of 93, Farris-Luse suffered a burst appendix and at one point was in danger of death, but happily she made a full recovery. She moved into a nursing home in 1991 at the age of 104, after falling and breaking her hip. Once again, she made a full recovery and remained in very good health for several more years. In 1997, she wrote a letter to the then 122 year old Jeanne Calment, who still remains by far the oldest verified person ever. At the age of 115, she could no longer speak or hear and according to her granddaughter "she doesn't appear to understand what's going on." Farris-Luse outlived six of her seven children. She had a sister who lived to the age of 99 and their father was murdered at age 62.

August 14, 2019; Clara Huhn was born in Schuyler, Nebraska, United States on January 28, 1887 and died in California, United States on December 20, 2000 at the age of 113 years, 327 days.
One of eight children of John and Katherine Herling, who emigrated from Germany in 1883. She married John Huhn in 1916 and had four children. A dust storm and drought prompted their move to San Diego in 1938. After her husband died in 1948, she did domestic work until she was nearly 80. She continued to live alone until the age 103, taking a bus to the market to buy the food she cooked.

Amy Isabel (Matthews) Hulmes, born October 5, 1887, died in Bury, United Kingdom, on October 27, 2001 at the age of 114 years, 22 days. At the time of her death, she was the oldest person in Europe and the second oldest person in the world. She remains one of the top ten oldest British people ever.
Born as Amy Matthews, Hulmes worked as a weaver for a number of years before her marriage to Philip Hulmes in 1919, with whom she had two daughters. Hulmes was known to drink four bottles of Guinness per day in her youth. She also smoked for most of her life, before giving it up for health reasons at the age of 84. She lived in a house without hot water until the age of 94 and could still touch her toes at 105. Her father was nursed by Florence Nightingale during the Crimean war.

October 6, 2016; Nellie Hunt was born in Missouri, United States on July 28, 1887 and died in the same state on February 8, 2001 at the age of 113 years, 195 days. At the time of her death, she was the fifth oldest living person in the world and the oldest person ever born in Missouri. Her Missouri longevity record was broken by Ora Holland in 2014.

1887. She was an avid fan of exercise, drove a race car at 105 years, appeared on David
Letterman's show in 1990 (at 103), and was teaching an aerobics class at age 108. From [1987 -
1999] she appeared in the Atlanta Journal-Constitution 27 times. She had a mentality
that
said "never say die," "never quit." After age 110, becoming bedridden was just another obstacle
for her to overcome. She died on April 6, 1999 at age 111 years, 223 days and was a member of
the Georgia Centenarian Study Group.

January 28, 2016; Maggie Murdock was born in Orange County, North Carolina, United States on August 19, 1887 and died in the same state on July 22, 2000 at the age of 112 years, 338 days.
Murdock married Daniel Murdock and had one daughter. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, painting, dancing, country and gospel music, games and cooking. In 1978, aged about 91, she moved into White Oak Manor nursing home. At the age of 95, she was chosen as Nursing Home Resident of the Year by the North Carolina Health Care Facilities Association. According to a director of her nursing home, "Maggie is a leader, but she's the most gentle leader I have ever known." In 1987, aged about 100, Murdock lost both her legs to amputation, but she remained active for several more years.
Takatoshi Odate was born in Japan on May 4, 1887 and died in Kanagawa, Japan on July 15, 1997 at the age of 110 years, 72 days.

After visiting the Business College Helsinki she took to the banking sector, where she worked throughout her working life. She worked in banks in several locations. Since then, Maria Rothovius worked, inter alia, as a people's welfare officer and kept the pupils' dormitory in the home town of Ikaalinen.
