July 30, 2015; Goldie Michelson was born in Russia on August 8, 1902 and currently lives in Massachusetts, United States. She is the oldest verified person ever born in Russia. She is believed to have emigrated from Russia with her parents in 1904.
Michelson attended Pembroke College (which later merged with Brown University), graduating with a sociology degree in 1924. She married David Michelson and had one daughter, Renee. After her daughter started school, Michelson enrolled at Clark University and went on earn her Master's degree in sociology. A great passion for the theatre has been central to her life. She acted in, produced and directed many plays in a career spanning seven decades. Well into her 90s, she was still teaching students various elements of drama and music, and how to speak publicly without fear and anxiety.
When asked for the secret to longevity, Michelson said "Walking. I was a great walker - four or five miles every morning, weather permitting. I never used a car if I could walk. One of the great joys of life was when I sold my car."
Goldie Michelson died on July 8, 2016 at the age of 113 years, 335 days.

She outlived her husbands, Roxie Rollins and Jesse Snavely. On January 8, 2014, at age of 111 years 326 days, based on total days lived (then 40,869 days), she surpassed Katherine Plunket (111 years 327 days; 40,868 days) as the oldest Irish-born person ever using the modern borders of Ireland. This record had lasted since 1932! Please note that Annie Scott, who was born in 1883 in what is now Northern Ireland, had died in Scotland in 1996, at 113 years old.
