In April 2020, at the age of 113, Branyas Morera was tested positive for COVID-19, but successfully recovered. She was the oldest recorded survivor of the disease until Lucile Randon, then 116, of France recovered in 2021. In a subsequent interview with the Observer, Branyas Morera called for a revolution in treatment of the elderly, saying "This pandemic has revealed that older people are the forgotten ones of our society. They fought their whole lives, sacrificed time and their dreams for today's quality of life. They didn't deserve to leave the world in this way."

Sept. 19, 2020; Madeleine Chat was born on August 10, 1907 in Auxerre, Bourgogne-Franche-Comte, France. When she was a child, she witnessed World War I. She described it as an endless war where "soldiers, ingeniously, keep them busy with pounding shell breeches which became inkwells, vases, lamps, and more kinds of objects. My father has made some of these kind of objects that me and my young brothers discovered when he was in leave." Her father served in the back of a troops' refuelling service, so he came back without injuries. However, her three uncles were injured at leg, and limped all the rest of their life. She was 11 years old when the armistice was signed. It was four o'clock, when she was leaving school with a classmate, and there was a lot of agitation. She studied in Dijon and worked as a researcher in Nancy and Paris, before returning to Auxerre at the time of her retirement in 1972. Chat never married and has no children, and has joked that "God did not give me children, but the devil gave me nephews." Longevity runs in Chat's family; her mother and brother both lived to 93, her aunt lived to 104, and her great-grandmother lived to 95. Chat currently lives in Auxerre, Bourgogne-Franche-Comte, France. She bought a computer at the age of 104 and, according to her niece, continued to send emails and photos even as a supercentenarian. On August 31, 2017, three weeks after her 110th birthday, Chat became the oldest known living person in Bourgogne-Franche-Comte, following the death of fellow 110-year-old Yvonne Bouton. At age 112, she walked without assistance or eventually with a cane. As of her 113th birthday, she was able to walk with a walker. She has chosen the menu and made the invitations. When her niece asked her if she was tired, she replied: "Yes, but it's an happy tiredness !".

Dec. 23, 2019; Irene Dunham was born Irene Babcock on December 16, 1907 to Duane and Mabel (Whitney) Babcock. She grew up on a farm located four miles from Bath, Michigan. She was the oldest of nine siblings. She began attending Bath Consolidated School in seventh grade. On May 18, 1927, Irene Dunham, then aged 19, survived the Bath High School bombing. She took a day off school due to a sore throat. That day, school board trustee Andrew Kehoe had planted 1000lbs of dynamite in the basement of the building, which exploded, killing 38 schoolchildren and six adults, and injured at least 58 other people. After the explosion that morning, he parked his truck, loaded with more explosives, in front of what was left of the building. He detonated the vehicle, killing himself, the school superintendent, two adults, and a child. Dunham and her mother heard the explosion, then got in their car and drove to see what it was. They arrived to find the north wing of the school in a pile of rubble. Several of Dunham's siblings were in the school at the time of the explosion. Her sister Eva jumped out of a first-floor window with some classmates to escape, and her brother, Lloyd, lost a finger in the explosion. Soon after the bombing, she married Laurits Dunham. The ceremony had been planned before the attack. She continued with school later that year, with classes being held in various places in the town, such as a drug store. She eventually received her diploma 50 years later when Bath High School's 1977 graduating class invited the 1927 senior class to their ceremony. Laurits Dunham died in 1972. The couple had a daughter Lorraine (1930-2020) and two sons, Laurits Jr. (1932-2013) and Bruce (born 1946). Dunham has nine grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, and 23 great-great-grandchildren. She survived a bout of colon cancer, surprising her doctors. Dunham has lived in Lansing, Michigan, for more than 80 years. At the age of 109, she lived independently, could walk with the aid of a walker, and still held a driver's license. She became a supercentenarian in December 2017.

Irene Dunham presently lives in Lansing, Michigan, USA. She became the oldest living person in the state of Michigan, following the death of Ellen Goodwill of Battle Creek.

Jan. 10, 2020; Cora Opal Goode was born as Cora Opal Griggs in Oklahoma Territory, USA, on June 3, 1907, five months before the territory became a state. Her parents were James Cleveland Griggs (1885-1951) and Mary Elizabeth (nee Bowen) Griggs (1888-1965). The family moved to Texas via covered wagon when Opal was an infant, but a few years later, they returned to Oklahoma. Her father worked in the oil fields. Goode remembered seeing the first Model-T cars, seeing a woman driving a car for the first time, and seeing a car that wasn't black. She also remembered World War I, especially when it ended. She wanted to attend the celebrations, but her father didn't let her because he thought that all the excitement would be too much for an 11-year-old girl to handle. Goode was the valedictorian of her senior class in high school on May 13, 1926. On September 28, 1926, she married Henry Goode and had a daughter, Cheryl, with him. The couple eventually settled in Ridgecrest, California in early 1945, where Henry spent the remainder of World War II working at China Lake. Opal worked at Ridgecrest's first bank, which opened in 1946. Goode had originally agreed to work at the bank until Christmas 1946, but ended up working there for around 24 years, until retirement in 1970. Her husband Henry died in 1976 aged 73, after almost 50 years of marriage. Since then, she has enjoyed spending time with her friends and family. She lived on her own until she was 105. Her secret to a long life was "hard work and clean living."

Nov. 29, 2019; Bessie Hendricks was born as Bessie Sharkey on a farm in Carroll County a few miles southeast of Auburn, Iowa, on November 7, 1907. Her parents were Hugh and Mattie (Clark) Sharkey. She had four older siblings John, David, Laurence and Ethel. A younger sister, Anna, was born in 1910 after the family had moved in 1908 to a 160-acre farm two miles east and one mile north of Lake City in Calhoun County. At age 5, Hendricks began attending first grade - there was no kindergarten - at the country school across the road from the family’s farm. While not at school, she helped with chores at home. By the time Bessie Hendricks entered seventh grade, the local country school was closed to due lack of pupils, so she attended Central School in Lake City. A more profound life change would occur, however, when Hendricks' mother passed away from illness on July 2, 1921. Thereafter, 13-year-old Bessie Hendricks had to assume many more household responsibilities. She continued her education, however, and graduated from Lake City High School in May 1926. A little over 90 years later, she attended the all-school reunion in Lake City in the summer of 2016. During her high school years, Hendricks completed a normal training course that allowed her to teach country school following her graduation. Starting in the fall of 1926, she taught country school in the Lake City area for four years.

Just before she started her last year of teaching, Hendricks attended a dance in Lohrville one evening with a friend named Art Hendricks, who had an older brother named Paul. After Paul and Bessie married on June 27, 1930, at the Woodlawn Christian Church, the couple lived in Rands for nearly three years. Paul Hendricks worked at the grain elevator and depot, in addition to running a small store. The couple's first two daughters, Shirley and Joan, were born during this time. In March 1933, the young family moved to a farm east of Lake City that would be the Hendricks' home place for the next 47 years. The family expanded to include Roland (Ron), Glenda and Leon. After Paul and Bessie Hendricks retired and held their farm sale in 1979, they moved to a home in Lake City in July 1980. The couple were one month shy of celebrating their 65th anniversary when Paul Hendricks passed away on May 25, 1995. In her later years, Hendricks stayed busy helping her family with various projects, including processing 500 chickens one summer. She was also active in the Woodlawn Christian Church, where she has been a member for 92 years.

Reportedly, Bessie Hendricks is comfortable with her life at Shady Oaks, where her family visits often. With no major illnesses and only a couple prescription medicines in Hendricks' daily routine, her physician, Dr. Derek Duncan, of Lake City, calls her his "miracle lady."

As of the present day, Bessie Hendricks is the oldest living person in the state of Iowa.

When her younger child started school, she became a kindergarten teacher, and, eventually, head of the preschool, a position she held for 20 years. Every morning until she was 100, she drank the juice of half a lemon mixed with warm water. She only stopped because she'd "lived to be 100, and thought that was long enough." Kay remained mentally sharp as a centenarian, still playing Scrabble when she was almost 109. By this time, she had several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. On her 110th birthday, she was easily able to give a comprehensive interview, at the end of which she said: "Honey, you've asked me enough questions."
