Dear GRG Member and Friends,
On 5/10/19 Amazon closed our associates account. Purchases made through the link I set up had provided at least some modest income to GRG and our foundation to support aging solutions.
An email they sent said their computer algorithm had determined that we -- actually someone beyond our control -- had made ONE violation of their terms of service. Some details are below.
So here's my commentary:
When you sign up for an account with a big tech service, you're subject to their rules. If they, or their computer algorighm, believes you have violated them, or for any other reason, they can pull your account at any time.
Also they have access and use of your data and data resulting from your account, they can push ads to you, and do a lot of other things we might not agree with.
They can change the rules at any time.
Why? Because YOU signed their terms of agreement saying they could.
This can be regrettable if you have invested a lot of time, and money, promoting their service, building a following, etc. etc.
So what's the lesson here?
Here's what I say: It's basically that you can only truly rely on yourself and your close associates. Not the FDA, NIH, government, politicians, or big tech.
So support GRG and our foundation (actually one in the same) directly.
